Renae, Tricia, Tricia, and Suzette manning the lavender farm's booth at the Health and Wellness Expo last weekend. How often do we take time to really focus on our health and wellness? From nutrition and exercise, to balance and harmony, it's important that we take time to evaluate where we are and where we want to be in each of these areas. Caring for our mind and body is key to living well.
To show support for all whose new year's resolutions include making changes for a healthier lifestyle, the Young Living Lavender Farm recently participated as one of several exhibitors at a local Health & Wellness Expo this past Saturday, where we shared information regarding our purpose, our farms, our premium essential oils, and our popular special events.
The soothing scent of lavender made its way through the expo center, which brought the crowds to our booth to learn more about this wonderful plant and the many benefits of therapeutic-grade essential oils. Many people had heard about our lavender farm, or had already visited and are planning to return for Lavender Days 2008 (June 27-28). People's faces lit up when they recalled their visits to the lavender farm. It was as if every visitor felt the same way about this beautiful farm--that this spot on earth has its own life, harmony, and joy.
One such visitor was a lovely British woman who stopped by our booth because she followed the scent of lavender to our expo! She had been attending the expo next door, when she smelled lavender and decided to see where her nose led her. As a young girl in England, she had been surrounded by the beauty and aroma of lavender plants, which she missed so much since moving to the U.S. Imagine her delight to find out that the largest lavender farm in North America for the distillation of essential oils is right here in Utah!
What is it about lavender that delights and soothes the soul? Lavender's many properties and benefits appeal to so many people throughout the world, and when they experience pure, potent Young Living lavender essential oil, they totally understand and know the difference between premium, therapeutic-grade quality and adulterated, synthetic essential oils.
Are there ways you plan to use lavender essential oil to renew yourself this year? Do you need more relaxation to achieve more harmony in your life?
Use the comment section to tell us about your favorite use of Young Living's lavender essential oil, or share a recipe using our gourmet lavender honey (which was our top-selling product at the expo!) by Saturday, February 2nd, and you may be one of 3 random winners who will receive our lavender bath salts!
(And remember, we can't award prizes to anonymous posters, so use your name or nickname so that we can identify you as a winner!).

One of the things I've found to be a delightful experience is to take a few drops of lavender oil in a tablespoon of a neutral oil such as an almond oil and use it for a massage. Both the giver and the receiver benefit from the pleasant aroma and are relaxed and refreshed.
I have a Rhodesian Ridgeback who gets stressed whe she has to go for rides in the car. I wait until we've been in the car for about 5 minutes and she has started panting, then I put the lavender on me so that she gets the aroma without it being too strong. She settles down almost immediately and is calm for the rest of the trip.
Am recovering from influenza which manifested severe headaches--similar to those suffered with West Nile virus. Frankincense had helped eased those so was disappointed that it was not nearly as affective with the flu. Tried topical Lavendar to forehead and temples and was pleasantly surprised at the relief of head pain. Also noted that it helped to dry up a runny nose, to boot! Great stuff when one is so miserable!
Lavender is wonderful for pain relief of headaches, eye pain, sinus pain, & migraines. I put a drop of lavender in the palm of my hand, rub the palms of both hands together, cup the hands together over my nose & take several deep breaths. Then, I put some lavendar oil on my nose topically to help my sinuses, as well as, on my forehead & scalp for headache/migraine pain. Before sleeping, I put a tiny bit of the lavender oil on my eye lids & eye brows to relieve any eye pain. Using the lavender oil is much better than any medication that I've taken.
For the past few years I have noticed that my hair is lacking a bit right above my temple area. I have been massaging lavender into this area daily for the last 3 months, and I am happy to say that I have a lot of new hair growth in this area. I am thrilled to have this area filled in with hair once again. I also love to rub lavender on my pillow and the bottom of my feet before going to bed at night. I get a wonderful night's rest and don't wake up until morning.
Lavendar applied neat quickly cleared up infected sores on my scalp that no other prescription cream or product helped at all. Only a few days of Lavendar and my scalp was healed and healthy.
I also use lavander in my fabric storage area to gently scent the fabrics used for doll/toy making and bandannas.

Ten years ago I bought this stuffed toy rabbit, very cute with floppy ears, I called him Sleepy Bunny because in his tummy was dried lavender flowers. I originally bought him because I was having trouble falling asleep - due to stress and a car accident I had been in.
The thing is, there was no way to open up Sleepy Bunny to replenish the dried herbs when the scent went away. I simply pull back his fur and put a drop of Young Living Lavender oil on him... and he's good to go for a few months longer!
There's no reason why this can't be done with any other kind of stuffed toy. I think it would be terrific for infants who are too young to have an essential oil applied topically - simply put a drop on a stuffed toy in their crib.
I have enjoyed the scent of lavender ever since I was a little girl, my mother grew a hardy variety in our garden in Toronto.
I add lavender oil to gycerine cream to enhance the healing and soothing of chapped hands and skin. The healing and scent are great combination of benefits.
Carry a sloppy used bottle of it in your purse or spill some on purpose in the bottom and everytime you open it up to pay for something, get a tissue, keys, etc, you get a calming waft of air. Just wonderful, not to mention the zillion uses for it to have it with you at all times. Just today I picked my son up from school and he had a red warm mark on his face from falling on some ice on playground, maybe not the best choice, but it worked great immediately and calmed him at the same time. It looks good just a few hours later.
My 77 year old father had some difficulty staying asleep. I told him to massage some lavender on the back of his neck before retiring. He was so excited to let me know that he slept better than he had in years and states he has not felt that well rested in ages!
Living in sunny Florida, I sometimes spend too much time in the sun gardening so I immediately put Lavender on my arms and any other exposed areas of skin which got burned. The lavender takes the sting out and leaves my skin supple, soft and smelling great!
Many of you may know that the Thieves Spray will take off permanent marker instantly, however, did you know that Lavender oil applied neat does just as good of a job?!!! We were delightfully surprised!
From feet to sheets and everything in between! Reading the comments on Lavender and its infinite abilities bring memories rushing back in!
As a Practitioner that works out of home, my clients are greeted by Zoe the dog and O the cat. Those with severe allergic reactions to animals have yet to react in my care - as Lavender is applied to their feet soon upon their arrival. Their need of medication is quickly forgotten - what a testimony! Lovely Lavender how we enjoy thee!
I love applying a drop or two of lavender to my pillow before bed. It makes for a very deep and restful sleep.
I love cooking with lavender! It makes excellent ice cream. Of course you can't use sugar so the agave works well for a replacement!
My wife rubs lavender all over a favorite stuffed lamb of our youngest child. She loves it and comments on how her lamby likes it too.
I have used Lavender countless times to calm burns from cooking. I have found that if I apply the lavender quick enough after I burn myself, I never get a blister or any sign of a burn. Those times when the lavender is not so quickly available, the lavender still does a wonderful job of healing the injury very quickly and comfortably.
One night I put my hand on a hot stove and burned it and immediately I reached in the covered and put lavender on my hand and the next evening there was no sign of there being a burn. I also put lavender on my skin when I have an itch and it is red and after a few minutes the itching and redness will go away.
on my way to a Wedding I tried to iron my dress that was crushed in my suitcase...I burned my arm pretty badly and expected a big scar. Luckily I remembered I had some Lavender oil with me...I kept putting it on my arm and a 2 inch burn is now a dot!
What a wonderful thing; I am still in shock that I have no scar!
If I or my daughter get an earache, I will put a drop of lavendar on a piece of cotton ball and stick in ear. The pain is gone within minutes.
