The Latest Research on Lavender

We have some fabulous classes and workshops lined up for Lavender Days, so be sure to mark June 27-28 on your calendars to learn, learn, learn! Interested in finding out about the latest research on the benefits of lavender essential oil? Then you'll definitely want to attend Karen Boren's class! Here's a sneak preview from Karen:

"As of today, there are 149 lavender essential oil studies on PubMed.gov, the website of the U.S. National Library of Medicine and National Institutes of Health. All peer-reviewed medical and scientific journals...exciting discoverings!"

We are thrilled to be bringing together the top instructors in their fields, from herbs and gardening, to cooking and bread baking, for a great educational experience at Lavender Days. If you're a gardening enthusiast, you'll be pleased to know that Joy Bossi of "Joy in the Garden" --the Salt Lake City based radio program--will also be teaching classes at our event.

I can not express how important hand washing is, especially here in upstate NY in the winter. We typically use the thieves foaming hand soap in my house, but I also brought a bottle to use in our bathroom at work. Where my boyfriend and I work there were people sick all winter long and we were around them day after day and do you know that we did not get sick once this winter. This is our first winter with the oils and I know they are what kept us well!

I've only just discovered Young Living's oils, but have used oils in the past. I'm looking forward to using Young Living's oils when I return home to a static address.

I do have a question: what to do when someone you live/travel with is allergic to lavender?

I've been traveling long term the last year, and somewhere along the line must have taken something toxic into my body, because I've developed a weird rash sort of thing that looks like insect bites, extremely itchy -- hot baths with oils and Dead Sea Salts and hot compresses with oils help bring up pus and other such pleasant things. The "bites" open up, then heal, leaving a brown scar (I scar very easily).

As usual, one of the ways I treat skin problems is with lavender oils, but since I've started traveling with a friend who is allergic, this has been quite problematic. We've operated on the compromise solutions for right now (I use the lavender when he's elsewhere whenever possible, and air room where I do so very thoroughly).

Are there ways for me to use lavender that won't set off his allergies? Any help would be much appreciated, I can't imagine not using lavender, especially since the lavender is the only thing that relieves the itching of this condition!

oftentimes people are "allergic" to oils that are not processed correctly.
This is very common for Lavender as it is popular for it's aroma and hurried into production. My daughter had the "allergy" problem with Melaleuca from another company but was not adversely effected by Young Living Melaleuca. If ishe is up to it have her try a SMALL amount on the inner fold of her elbow. Chances are because of the quality of the oil and the production quality, she won't be allergic. Good luck
