Seed to Seal Part One: Seeds

The lavender seeds for our farms in Utah and Idaho were originally brought here by Gary Young from Provence, France, the lavender capital of the world. These seeds are pure lavandula angustifolia, not lavandin, which is a lavender hybrid that is less expensive and less time consuming to extract and to grow.

The Young Living Lavender Farm now collects seeds from our own plants and freezes them through the fall so that when we plant them in our greenhouses in the winter, they are ready to germinate. The staff at the farm know exactly how much water, light, and warmth to give them so they are ready to be transplanted into our fields right after the last freeze.

It is amazing to see the research and care that goes into making these tiny little seeds become perfect lavender plants.
