Gourmet Lavender Honey

With the plants in full bloom, the happy little bees at the lavender farm have been very busy collecting nectar from the flowers. After foraging on the lavender plants, the bees return to their hives to make the lavender honey. We'll soon be bottling jars of this delicious, gourmet lavender honey and making it available for purchase. The Young Living Lavender Farm's lavender honey is raw and all-natural, with a delightfully sweet scent of lavender!

Gary Young's Vision

The lavender fields have looked beautiful the last two weeks in full bloom, and now it's time for the harvest! At the farm, the crew has been working around the clock to harvest and distill at just the right time to extract the highest-quality essential oils. Gary Young, founder and president of Young Living Essential Oils, had a vision of providing the world with the finest therapeutic-grade essential oils, and that's exactly what his farms and company have produced. When you visit the Young Living Lavender Farm and see the distillation in process, then enjoy the benefits of Young Living's essential oils, it's very apparent that these essential oils are the highest quality available.

I recently met with an herb farmer from Oregon who grows many types of herbs on her 2-acre farm. When I explained to her that Gary Young owns four farms consisting of thousands of acres dedicated to growing herbs for the production of essential oils, she turned to me and exclaimed, "Oh, I am so glad! Someone has to save the plants. We desperately need these herbs, now more than ever!"

I agree--the dedication, vision, and integrity of Gary Young and his farms and company means that people throughout the world will be able to have therapeutic-grade essential oils and essential oil-enhanced products to enhance their well-being.

Over the next few posts, I will be describing the Seed to Seal process so that our readers can better understand what makes Young Living Essential Oils the world leader in essential oils.

Lavender Wreaths

My youngest daughter and I were walking through the lavender fields tonight breathing in that wonderful fragrance and enjoying the cool evening breeze. Just a couple of days ago, I brought a group of girls (my daughters and their friends) to the lavender farm to learn about herbs and the many benefits of therapeutic-grade essential oils.

These young girls loved being surrounded by beautiful, deep purple fields of lavender. Plants (especially fragrant ones like lavender!) bring children and adults joy. To top off the afternoon, the girls each made a lavender wreath to give away to a neighbor or family member. It was an absolutely perfect way to spend a summer day!

The lavender wreaths were one of the most popular craft classes offered at Lavender Days. We're glad so many guests had the opportunity to enjoy crafting with these beautiful flowers!

Run Through the Lavender 5K Race Results

Lavender Days 2008 was a huge success, and over the next few posts I want to share with you many of the highlights. There were so many memorable events, but one that stands out in my mind was the 5K race.

It was 5 a.m. when Tricia, Christa, Katie, and I left my house to get to the farm in time for the 5K registration on June 28th. We arrived at the farm wide-eyed as we witnessed several people (including many amazing volunteers!) already eager to register and start the race.

As we gathered everyone at the starting line at 7:30 a.m., Gary Young welcomed the runners and asked the group to share where they were from, their ages, the number of family members running, etc.

It was fascinating to hear their responses. We had runners from New Zealand, Australia, and many other faraway places. The oldest runner participating was a 76 year-old gentleman, and there was a family with SEVERAL children running in the race!

With close to 600 runners this year, it was an amazing sight to see so many people winding through the lavender fields enjoying the early morning run.

The finish line was an exciting place to be, as we cheered participants who inspired all of us with their contagious energy!

I hope to be able to join the runners in next year's race, which will take place on June 27, 2009. Hooray to all our 5K winners--you're all winners!
