More Lavender Recipes!

First, let me say how much we love our friends at KSL Studio 5! They have invited us to be on their show several times and have treated us so warmly. Thank you Brooke, Darin, and team.

I appeared on Studio 5 today and shared more lavender recipes. This is the lavender vinegar recipe that I demonstrated on the show and that we're doing as a craft at Lavender Days:

Lavender Vinegar Recipe
10-17 lavender sprigs
1 pint white vinegar (boil for 2-5 minutes)

Cut lavender sprigs to fit inside a glass bottle or jar. (Sterilize jar if using lavender vinegar for cooking.) Rinse flowers in cold water to remove dirt. Put lavender (flowers down, stems up) into jar and pour vinegar to the top of the bottle. Seal and let sit for 2-6 weeks before using.

Uses:

  • Cooking (marinade for meats, dressing for salads, dipping oil for breads)
  • Cleaning (disinfecting floors, walls, mirrors)
  • Cosmetic (hair rinse, facial blemishes)
Once again, lavender is the top herb because of its versatility! Be sure to join us at Lavender Days to enjoy the beauty of this plant and to celebrate the harvest.

What Do You Do in the Summertime?

What do you do in the summertime? Do you sit in the shade, or drink lemonade, or walk in parades? Well we do! Yes, we love the shade trees on the lavender farm, we love drinking lavender lemonade, and we love walking in parades!

So far we've walked in the Ephraim City Scandinavian Days Parade, and on Saturday the Springville Art City Days Parade. The fairies who live on our lavender farm invite the children to attend the fairy tea parties that we host at Lavender Days, Tricia and I proudly carry the Young Living Lavender Farms banner as we carefully throw frisbees out to the cheering crowds (parade rules--no throwing, so we carefully "toss" our frisbees), and we all have a grand time marching along! We love it!

The lavender fairies, peppermint fairy, and clary sage fairy love to sing and dance at the parades.

The Lavender Farm parade team: Tiffany T., me, Tricia, Dancey, and Christa.

Lavender Farm Day was Filled with Fun!

We had close to 3,000 guests at the Lavender Farm on Friday for Convention, and it was absolutely fabulous! We loved having you here, and we want to thank you for your enthusiasm and kindness. We hope you'll visit us often!

Farm Day began early (the buses arrived an hour and a half earlier than expected, which caught us a bit off guard!), but the cool morning breeze was a lovely way to introduce guests to our exclusive farm oil blend Garden Breeze. This floral blend was created to remind visitors of the fragrances enjoyed while walking through our herb gardens.

We also offered wagon tours, distillery tours, presentations by Gary Young at our new exhibit of early distillation in France, Animal Oils Training (Raindrop) presentation by Gary Young, Bath Salt and Lavender Foot Scrub booth, delicious shaved ice and sorbets with Young Living products, fabulous food and entertainment, activities for the kids such as the Lavender Fairy Tea Party and Knights Tale Party, rock climbing, pony rides, paddleboat rides, and so much more!

My favorite moments were spent watching ladies sitting back and relaxing as they received a soothing foot scrub with our new lavender products, seeing Mary Young's mother perform on the stage playing and singing her heart out, listening to Gary Young as he shared fascinating facts about the early distillation methods in France and the development of his lavender farms, hearing the sounds of children laughing and playing at the parties, reconnecting with so many friends, and hearing comments from our guests such as, "We've had such a wonderful time here. This farm is absolutely beautiful. Gary must be so proud!"

I hope you'll share your thoughts and favorite moments from Farm Day with us. You may even win a bottle of Lavender Peppermint essential oil if you post your comment before June 21st! I'll be posting photos soon, so be sure to check back often on our blog. And for those of you who had the chance to enjoy the cool NingXia Red shaved ice and essential oil sorbets, I will also be posting those recipes soon!

Young Living Lavender Farm--No Longer A Secret!

Before running up to Salt Lake City this afternoon to launch Young Living's new lavender line at our Grand Convention, I spent the morning at our lavender farm with the crew of "Homes Today: Utah Edition." This television crew joined us on a wagon tour of the farm and filmed us for a segment that will air on June 22 and again on June 29 (ABC 4 KTVX ). The show is Utah's newest destination homes show featuring local communities, builders, design tips and more.

It was a delight to have their team here at the farm and to spend time sharing the beauty and purpose of our lavender farm with them. They mentioned that they had NO IDEA that this amazing farm even existed! It's fun to see the excitement in people's faces and voices when they discover our little secret in Mona, Utah!

Young Living Grand Convention attendees were wowed and dazzled by a fashion show featuring our five new lavender personal care products today at the Salt Palace Convention Center!

Blue Agave Giveaway Winners

I am so excited that so many people plan on making the Lavender Lemonade recipe I posted. Please let us know how it turns out! We got a few questions about peeling the lemons and limes. I believe at the lavender farm they use a juicer that doesn't like peels, and that is why the recipe asks for the lemons and limes to be peeled. But if you plan on juicing them at home by hand (like me) you don't need to worry about peeling them. Also, there were some questions about other recipes or cookbooks. Young Living does have two cookbooks out right now. They have very healthy, very good recipes in them. Hum, sounds like they might be a good giveaway in the future!

On to the important stuff...the winners! The randomly chosen winners are lucky numbers 14 and 16! Namastehon and Daphne please e-mail your shipping address to webinfo[at]youngliving.com and we'll send out your prize. Congratulations!
